Can Hair Transplantation be Done in Scars on the Head?

ba-photos In the past few weeks, I have come across many people with scars on their heads. Some of them acquired these scars by accidents while others acquired them during hair transplants, years ago. Hair transplant still produces scar at the donor site, but they are minor as compared to the scars produced a decade ago.

People often look toward lasers for minimizing scars. However, scars on the head, either produced by injury or a hair transplant, are deep enough and cannot be removed by lasers. Here are two steps to treat scars on the head.
Fortunately, hair transplantation can be done in the scars on the head. In most cases, it would be suitable to extract some hair follicles from areas other than head using FUE (follicular unit extraction). These extracted hairs can be planted right in the scar as they are planted in the other areas.
In many cases, an additional step is needed to effectively hide the scars in the head. If the scar on the head is too big or too wide, scar revision should be done prior to planting hair in the scar. Scar revision surgery will significantly shorten the scar, and will remove unevenness of the scar. When the scar heals, you will need to plant only a few hairs to effectively conceal the it.
