When will I See the New Hair Growth form the Grafts?

graft-anchoring-fig10 Hair Transplant is a marvelous cosmetic surgery procedure that gives you permanent, natural, and maintenance free hair for the rest of your life. A good quality hair transplant is way superior to wigs and hairpieces in many respects, but there is one point, you should be prepared for – patience. Unlike wigs and hairpiece, a hair transplant does not give you hairs overnight. Following is a brief overview of the procedure and the time it takes to grow your newly transplanted hair.
Why hair transplant takes time to show results?
Hair transplant takes healthy hair grafts from the donor area and plants them to balding areas. Before these hair grafts are extracted, the area is shaved at the donor site. Actually, it is a hair graft (root of the hair) we are interested in. These grafts are extracted and then planted into the balding area.
What happens if the grafts are extracted without shaving donor area?
Even if the grafts are extracted without shaving donor area, the hairs attached to them will fall after the transplant. This phenomenon is sometimes referred as shock loss. However, you should not be worried; this does not mean that there is something wrong with your transplant.
When will I see the new hair growth form the grafts?
Transplanted hairs fall out soon after the hair transplant procedure. But the grafts remain alive in the scalp. These hair grafts start growing after a period of three months. After this dormant phase, they start growing at a normal pace. Human hair grows at the rate of about 1cm (0.5 inch) per month. So, it takes about 10-12 months for the results to be significantly apparent.
It is safe to use hair loss concealer after a hair transplant procedure. These concealers cling to surrounding hair with the help of static charge and create a good cosmetic effect. Nothing can be more exciting than watching your new hair growing!
